A SimCity BuildIt Story: Chapter 3

A cold wind blew over Cheeky Monkey HD.com (the city, not the mayor of the same name).  It was a wind whose very coldness suggested that all was not well.  And that coldness was correct; all was not well.  A SimCity BuildIt city could only run successfully when its supply chain was running freely around the cog of industry and on this very day – the windy day – a dose of metaphorical WD40 was surely needed.

Cheeky Monkey HD.com (the mayor, not the city of the same name) ran a hand thoughtfully through his lustrous hair and sighed.  Nobody ever said that “Mayoring” would be easy and it was proving itself thusly.  He sighed again and pushed his hand powerfully against the “Push” sign on the door to the Farmer’s Market.  The door yielded, and he strode confidentally into the inner chamber that was the Farmer’s Market.

“Hello,” declared Mayor Cheeky Monkey HD.Com, loudly and clearly in his commanding speaking voice.  “I am Cheeky Monkey HD.Com, the mayor of this very city that coincidentally bears the same name.  I am here to talk about Flour Bags, or rather the lack of them.  Who is in charge here?”

A rotund, elderly gentleman gingerly raised his hand and shuffled forward.  He seemed cowed to be in the very presence of such a powerful public figure, but somehow he found the courage to speak.

“It is I, Sir,” said the rotund, elderly gentleman.  “My name is Giuseppi, and I have been manager of this humble Farmer’s Market for near fifty years. And I’m sorry, I’m sorry…”  Guiseppi, the elderly, rotund Farmer’s Market manager broke down into a literal flood of tears.

“Now, now,” calmed the Mayor. “There is no need for sobbing.  For I, Cheeky Monkey HD.Com, am a kind and benevolent mayor, and I simply need to understand why there is a lack of Flour Bags.  Giuseppi, my old friend, I’m here to help.”

At these profound, moving words, Giuseppi, the rotund, elderly Farmer’s Market manager broke yet into deeper floods of tears; being the receipient of such overwhelming support from this, this, this giant of a man proved almost too much to bear.  It was a full twenty minutes before he regained his composure.

“But, Mr Mayor,” he pitifully sobbed. “I would make more Flour Bags, but I’ve seen neither hide nor hair of Textiles OR Seeds. I don’t know what to do.”

Mayor Cheeky Monkey HD.Com sighed again.  He couldn’t believe that this was happening to him.

“This time,” said the Mayor, turning to Giuseppi. “It’s personal.”
